I’m gradually getting over the jet-lag from our return trip from Israel, but not the let-down from the wonderful experience we had there, thanks in no small part to your efforts before and during our visit. Yesterday I had my first opportunity to speak about it from the pulpit at Old North Church, and it did not go unnoticed that my voice broke while quoting the 122nd Psalm: “I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go up unto the house of the Lord.’ Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem…” Visiting Israel with members of my congregation and David’s certainly ranks among the high points of my 25 years of ministry. I’m not sure it would be possible to recreate the spiritual impact of a first visit to the Holy Land, but I’d be glad to try!
I can’t thank you and the others enough for all you did to arrange such a wonderful experience. I certainly hope our paths cross again.
